Top 5 things you should and should not do

Top 5 things you should and Should not to do

1) Eye Contact, Do not read off of paper or powerpoint etc..
We do not want to read off of anything because that gives the audience to think you do not know what you are discussing.

2) Be organized! So you have a flowing presentation. You do not want to look for something that is missing during the presentaton.

3) If using a power point, make it readable for the audience. For example do not use light color fonts on a light color background or dark colors on a dark background. The audience has to be able to read the presentation.

4) Avoid disfluencies, it makes the audience think you do not know what you are talking about.

5) Be loud, so the audience can here you.

Research paper preview

In my research paper for college composition i am discussing about single-sex schools. I am arguing if single-sex schools can improve academic success but is it the best idea to separate the students by gender. For this specific topic i believe i am dealing with a wavering audience. So i will be using the methods of Ethos and Logos. Ethos,i am working with credibility and reliability. Logos, i am working the facts, statistics, and examples to support my point of view. This topic can go either way for anybody. Some people believe that they should have single-sex schools because they benefit students academics. Others believe they may benefit the academics of students but it does not prepare them to work coed successfully. I am gathering information of how it works for the boys and girls. For example it helps boys with less distraction from the opposite sex and girls to speak out freely without any competion. I will be using this sort of information to support my thesis.

A summary with a response

Creativity Disappearing?

Ted conferences has a video of a man Sir ken Robinson which is where he discusses if schools are killing creativity. He states there are three themes and the first is the extraordinary of students creativity. Second is the students put it in a place but have no idea where it is. FInally, third is how extraordinary the childrens capacity are. Robinson says “All kids have talent” but its the way they are expressing them. Adults believe dancing and singing with get you know where. That the students are incapable of making it to the big time. The teachers in school are having the students focus on careers that will make them money. Instead of teaching from the waist down teachers are teaching from the waist up. Students are getting pushed in a particular way and people do not even know what the future holds. They have a general idea but it can change in the blink of an eye.

I agree with Sir Kin Robinson that "students get educated out of creativity"because the adults believe that they should be pushed towards something that will bring them sucess with money. In actuallity anything can give you sucess if you decide to put your mind to it. It would be hard but if someone is willing or is born to do so, they will succeed.

Why am I here at SCCC

Why Am I Here?

I never had a real college in mind when i was in high school. My mother was set on me going to SCCC because it was cheaper and i was not to far away from home. I've always wanted to go out on my own but i did not even have a major picked out until the end of the summer. I kept changing my mind left and right. My twin sister had her mind set on Johnson and Whales in rode island to participate in the culinary department but of course my mother said no to her. Yes, she is eighteen and can make her own decisions but were just not use to saying no to her. After her first two years she will attend Johnson and Whales. So we both ended up going to SCCC. For her it was because mother did not want her to leave and for me i am just not sure what i want to do with my life. My major is criminal Justice to go in the Field of computer forensics or Juvenile system and i am just seeing how it works out. I like it but i think i am going to minor in something as well. Which that is the great thing about college you don't have to stop at one thing. We can chose what we want to be in our life and SCCC is bringing me to that point. To make the most important decision in my life. So the reason I am here is to find myself before i move further away from home.

Plagiarism Lines Blur for Students in Digital Age

"Plagiarism Lines Blur for Students in Digital Age"

"Plagiarism Lines Blur for Students in Digital Age", Trip Gabriel suggest that students might not know how to reference authors of the article they have found for their paper. Some people do not even know what plagiarism is and some people do not even realize they are doing it. Then again their are people who know that they are doing it and they dont care until they get caught. Students in a university can get kicked out for plagarising. Plagarism is a serious affence and some people do not even know about it.

The 5 Sences of Fall

The 5 Sences of Fall

Just stop everything you are doing and take a deep breath and shut everything out. The only thing that you can hear is the wind blowing and the leaves falling. Yes, it is that time of year. Fall! My favorite season! The leaves are falling and changing colors. Each leaf has a story of the journey they have taken throughout the seasons.

I like to go to this hill next to this baseball field near my house and just stand at the top to take everything in. This is a way i can get away from the world. I shut out all the noise and use the five sences to get a feel of my favorite season, fall. Smell, sound, touch, sight and taste. The smell, is like picking up a leaf and just taking a big wiff. The sound, is hearing each leaf fall and hit the ground. Touch, is the texture of each leaf to feel how the leaf forms to your hand. Sight, to see what journey each leaf has taken. Finally, Taste, i believe fall tastes like a good cup of apple cider.
Everyone has a favorite season but mine is fall. It is such a beautiful season. You can see all the leafs change into beautiful colors. But the best part of fall is when we rake all the leafs into a big pile and jump in it like we all did when we were a kid. I could just lay there all day and take in everything. The sound, the smell, the touch, the sight, and the taste but thats only until your parents poke there head out the door screaming at you to finish raking. I mean come on, who wouldnt love fall?
